Following the devastation brought about by Tropical Storm Sendong affecting two (2) major cities in Northern Mindanao last December 16 and 17, 2011, Police Regional Office 10 completed the training of rescue teams consisting of police officers from the different provinces in the region and the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. Members of the selected Barangay Peace Action Teams (BPAT) from the two (2) above-named cities and the province of Bukidnon were among those who completed the trainors training which was formally declared open on February 6, 2012 at PRO-10 Multipurpose Hall, Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City.

The highlights of the activity included the presentation of awards to deserving PNP personnel for their acts of heroism and gallantry in action during the devastation brought about by Tropical Storm Sendong. In his message to the PNP personnel, PCSUPT JUFEL C ADRIATICO, Regional Director, emphasized his slogan of “With Honor and Justice, We Serve” and the Chief PNP’s “Pulis Ako, Pulis Nyo Po,” which both serve as beacons and guiding principles for police officers of Northern Mindanao in discharging their police functions. Above all, PCSUPT ADRIATICO appreciated the courage and bravery displayed by PO2 Roque Tutor Balistoy for risking his life, and for the late SPO1 Charlon Mendoza Edrote for sacrificing his own life, during their search and rescue attempts to victims of Tropical Storm Sendong that greatly devastated Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City.

On or about 020700 February 2012, the same participants of the 5K fun run arriving at the Alegria Hills, Upper Macasandig, Cagayan De Oro City regrouped for cooling down exercises. This activity was directly followed by a kick-off ceremony for the tree planting project with the theme “Pulis Makakalikasan: Sampung Milyon Puno, Pamana sa Kinabukasan” in the above-mentioned area. The brief program was started by PCINSP ABDUL RACMAN BACARAMAN, Deputy Regional Chaplain, who invoked the grace of God. The same was followed by the opening remarks of RD, PRO 10, PCSUPT JUFEL C ADRIATICO, CEO VI in which he emphasized to each participant the need to plant trees for the sake of future generations and their posterity as well. He further announced the commitment of PRO 10 to plant one million trees in Northern Mindanao, as an unequivocal support to the program of the Chief, PNP to plant 10 million trees nationwide.

On or about 021100 February 2012, the launching of e-Blotter was initiated at the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office. Said activity was graced by no less than the Chief, PNP, PDG NICANOR A BARTOLOME, PhD, CSEE as Guest of Honor and Speaker. PCSUPT JUFEL C ADRIATICO, RD, PRO 10 and a few other senior officers likewise witnessed the occasion. The e-Blotter serves to enhance thru information technology the PNP’s blotter system of PRO 10 police stations.
